Job description

Tansi Friendship Centre Society is looking for a dedicated, full time Shelter Coordinator to fill various shifts within the emergency shelter.

Job Duties:

  • Provide new residents with a thorough understanding of the in-house rules.
  • Responsible for client intake and admissions while maintaining daily records and reporting for our funders.
  • Ensure that all rules are followed by the clients.
  • Responsible for cooking, cleaning and janitorial duties and assisting the clients in daily chores.
  • Attend all TFCS staff meetings and the Annual General Meeting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 10 minimum with job experience in related community work
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention
  • Knowledge of community agencies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the local Indigenous cultures
  • Must maintain professional conduct and abide by the Tansi Friendship Centre Society's Code of Ethics.
  • Must submit to a criminal records check.

Hours & Schedule

Various shifts – open 24 hours per day - Permanent Full-time as long as funding is secure
