Obair Economic Society is seeking applicants to fill the Program Manager role at our Dawson Creek office!

POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Manager strives to create a welcoming, accessible, informative, inclusive, and culturally appropriate environment that supports and assists individuals to prepare for, secure, and maintain sustainable employment. They will provide effective leadership and management to oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple programs.

PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES

Within the limits, policies, and requirements of the funding agency and of Obair Economic Society, the Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient development, management, and operation of all Program functions including:

1. Plans, organizes, and directs assigned Programs and/or projects. Ensure effective program delivery consistent with the Society’s mandate and policy, legal, contractual, budgetary and other requirements.

2. Participates with the Leadership team to develop and implement policies and related procedures and practices that are consistent with all legislative, and administration requirements.

3. Develops and establishes standards and accountability/control mechanisms for assigned Programs in accordance with policies and goals established and approved by the Executive Director. Formulate and recommend changes to daily procedures deemed necessary to effectively deliver contracted services to participants.

4. Develops and recommends long range plans and objectives for Programs; reviews and makes recommendations to the Executive Director on significant program issues.

5. Promote approved program marketing to ensure full intakes.

6. Develop, maintain and deliver the skills training curriculum. This may include classroom facilitation.

7. Provide support and act as a resource to Vocational Coach’s as they fulfil their job responsibilities. Support the Vocational coach in the development of a Participant Action Plan that meets the individual needs of the Participant asper contractual and Society requirements. This may include fulfilling the Vocational Coach role on an as needed basis.

8. Ensure reporting requirements are met for the program as per contract and the Society requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

•3-5 years previous supervisory/program management experience is required: preferably within the social service sector.
• Post Secondary education in the human/social service field, or the equivalent demonstrated competency based on experience and education.
• Knowledge of the BC Societies Act, BC Charities Act, WorkSafe BC, Human Rights legislation and BC Employment Standards.
• Previous experience working within the requirements of provincial and federal funding contracts is an asset.

• Demonstrated conflict management skills. The ability to function independently, and frequently under pressure with managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines including effectively managing crisis or emergency situations.
• Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of changing priorities.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.

• Travel may be required, across the Northeast Region of BC.
