POSITION TITLE: Community Support Worker

CLASSIFICATION: Community Support Worker

GRID LEVEL: 10

PROGRAM: Community Living Residential Programs

REPORTS TO:
Department Manager
JOB SUMMARY: The Community Support Worker will be responsible for providing asmooth functioning program by:
• Providing educational, vocational, social and recreational opportunities andtraining to an individual with developmental disabilities, mental healthdisorders and challenging behaviours; and
• Encouraging progressive independence through programming, routines andconsistent responses.


QUALIFICATIONS: The community Support worker will have:
• Two years experience in a supervised setting with a Diploma in Social Services,a Community Support Worker Certificate or a Residential Care Aide Certificate;or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience in a supportedemployment or residential resource; and
• All supervised settings to be in services to people with developmentaldisabilities.

• excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• organization, prioritization and motivation skills;
• excellent problem solving skills;
• the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;
• the ability to work in an isolated environment;
• the ability to work with people of diverse ages, cultures and personal situations;
• computer literacy in Excel, Word and email programs;
• a valid driver’s license;
• Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificates;
• a W.H.M.I.S. Certificate;
• a Medication Delivery Training Certificate;
• Food Safe Certificate;
• Foundations Training and
• a CPI Certificate.
HOURS OF WORK: 32.42 hours per week, flexible to meet program needs.

RATE OF PAY: As per the Collective Agreement.
