Job description
The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for two Permanent Part-Time Lifeguards (15 hours per week) at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre. Swim/fitness Instructor certification is not required for this position. Under the general supervision of the Recreation Manager and/or Aquatics Coordinator or designate, a lifeguard performs lifeguarding functions at the swimming pool, as well as maintenance. This position is an entry-level position with no previous experience as a lifeguard required.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicants must demonstrate ability and possess the following current qualifications:
• National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option); and,
• Standard First Aid, CPR Level C/AED.
Skills and Abillities
The successful applicant will be required to complete and submit a Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector, the results of which must be satisfactory to the City. The successful applicant will have the ability to perform all duties in a safe manner and to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members. Physical agility, the ability to complete duties requiring physical effort and a proven ability to provide excellent service to the public and overall demonstrated competency, including bi-annual testing, are required. Pool Operator 1 certification will be considered an asset.
