This manual is the document to support the decision making process of staff of the Employment Support & Income Assistance Program. This policy manual provides further information, clarification, authority levels and ministerial direction supporting legislation.
In Nova Scotia, the Labour Standards Code and its Regulations set the basis for the employment relationship. They outline benefits such as minimum wage, vacation and holidays, pregancy/parental leave and others. Both employees and employers have rights and responsibilities under these rules. If either party believes the rules have been broken, a complaint can be filed with the Labour Standards Division.
